"Anyone who knows me knows I'm a race fan and love NASCAR," the singer said in a NASCAR press release. "I look forward to hanging out with the fans, drivers and the entire NASCAR community."

Kelly will be "integrated into all aspects of NASCAR," including television spots, charitable events and NASCAR's awards dinner in New York City in December, NASCAR said.

Producer talks about new Kelly Clarkson CD

ADDICTED TourADDICTED TourA message from music producer David Kahne states that the public can expect an amazing new CD from the singer. Her last disc, Breakaway, was a huge success and deserves a listen if you have not already done so.

In the note, Kahne says "The songs are great, and Kelly is singing perfectly. It's a very aggressive and powerful group of songs and performances, and Kelly is doing things I've never heard her do before."

There are no singles to be released at this point, but Kahne has hinted "Maybe," "Anymore," and "Yeah," all performed on Kelly's Addicted tour, will be included on the CD.

Kelly in need of damage control?

According to the latest laptop computer news releases, Kelly may have tainted her "American Idol" image after a recent foray with adult filmmaker and Society 1 mastermind Matt Zane.

Kelly, who also recently appeared on stage with Metal Skool clutching a bottle of Chivas Regal, has been dealing with the issue of a video of her and Zane riding in the back of a van and toilet papering Amy Lee's house.

This season of American Idol is getting a super-sized premiere to match last season's super-sized ratings.

Television's most watched show is returning for its sixth cycle with a hefty four-hour premiere stretched over two nights in January, Fox announced Monday.

The auditions portion of the talent search will debut Jan. 16, spotlighting a segment of the more than 100,000 aspiring singers who tried out this time around in Los Angeles, San Antonio, Birmingham, Memphis, Minneapolis, New York and Seattle.

Of all the cities where tryouts took place, Seattle's singers in particular displayed a dearth of talent, at least as far as Simon Cowell was concerned.
